Developing Narrative through Speaking and Listening
We have made links between the Speaking and Listening levels and the Narrative teaching objectives from the NLS Framework for teaching to identify some developmental stages for Narrative retelling:

Level P8: Listening to and joining in through repeating phrases of story language

Level 1c: Remembering narrative outline.

Level 1b: Retelling narrative outline using knowledge of familiar texts to re-enact or re-tell to others, recounting the main points in correct sequence;
Uses some story language

Level 1a: Retelling narrative outline using language which signals time sequence
Uses more formal elements of story language
